Hakuna Wasichoweza (Girls Empowerment)

OVERVIEW

The Hakuna Wasichoweza (Girls Empowerment) project aimed to improve water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) conditions especially among girls in Lind Region.

The main objective of the project was to support young girls of school going age and those out of school through:

  • Improved school attendance
  • Improved reproductive health
  • It was funded by Vodacom Tanzania Foundation.

The project involved the development and execution of behavior change communication (SBCC) messages; monitoring of indicators, sustainable provision of low cost sanitary pads, advocacy and awareness campaigns to break the silence on menstrual hygiene management and related challenges.
