Global Women’s Net-work SummitT-MARC’s Managing Director Speaks at the Global Women’s Network Summit
T-MARC’s Managing Director, Ms Diana Kisaka this month participated in the ‘Healthy Nation, Healthy Lives Salon’ as part of the Global Women’s Network Summit, held at the President Bush Presidential Centre in Dallas Texas, under the auspices of the Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon (PPRR) initiative. The Salon highlighted cutting edge technologies to promote positive health behaviors and secure access to effective, quality health services; the role public-private partnerships are playing in women and girls health delivery; and innovation in maternal and child health - including cancers that impact women.
Speaking in a panel of experts, Diana spoke of the role that Private sector organizations play through corporate social responsibility and technology support to bridge the health gap. She highlighted how T-MARC and PRRR solicited support from Vodacom Foundation Tanzania and the use of mobile technology (M-Pesa) to transfer funds and leverage resources for existing programs to support cervical cancer positive women to access referral hospitals for treatment. Ms Kisaka also highlighted best practice models that T-MARC adopted to build the capacity of local community based organisations (CBOs) and Community Volunteers to support the mobilization and sensitization for women to come out and screen for cervical cancer in Iringa region.
