Press Conference on the “Furaha Yangu” Test and Treat Campaign
On June 12, 2018, a press conference was held at the Mwalimu Nyerere International Convention Centre on the upcoming launch of the “Furaha Yangu” test and treat campaign in Dodoma. Media Houses were informed that the campaign will be launched by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, HE Kassim Majaliwa Majaliwa (MP) on the 19th of June, 2018 in Dodoma. The announcement of the launch was jointly made by the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly, and Children (MoHCDGEC) through the National AIDS Control Program (NACP), the Tanzania Commission for AIDS (TACAIDS) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) who will jointly promote the campaign through the USAID Tulonge Afya Project. The campaign builds upon the vision of having a Tanzania without HIV/AIDS and is aligned with UNAID 90-90-90 targets; 90% of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status, 90% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy, and 90% of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression. Apart from media houses, the press conference was attended by FHI360, T-MARC Tanzania, EGPAF, Deloitte, Jhpiego and other stakeholders.
